WHAT A HORRIBLE way to go! Here is Peter Cushing breathing his last gasps, in a film I am pretty sure you all know 😉 This is a RARE photograph, I have never shared before. If you know THAT title, you'll know which film takes the theme on SUNDAY when CALLUM MCKELVIE joins us again, for the first in another series of great features with RARE stills galleries! Crack my QUESTION you have the film for Callum's first FEATURE 😉 - Marcus

ON THE FACE OF IT MUCH WORST IS YET TO COME!

THE HAVING FUN promotional photograph of both actres sDONNA REED and CHRISTOPHER LEE at the Savoy Hotel, during a cock-tail party for the release of 'BEYOND MOMBASA' a film that Reed and Lee starred in, gives a little insight to how soon Christopher Lee's career and public persona would soon change forever and no one would dream of pulling his beard ever again!

FRIDAY 13TH : BE LUCKY! #GIFS #GIFS #GIFS!

#FRANKENSTEINFRIDAY! No walking under ladders, making special plans or superstition says, your plans will be thwarted today, #Friday13th .. Bad Luck, supposingly rules the fates today..and within the realms of THESE TWO GUYS...they couldn't be MORE unlucky, no matter what day it was!. Cushing's Baron Frankenstein and Christopher Lee's Count Dracula, sadly no matter the plot, HAD to fail come the roll of the end credits.

ABOVE: In no particular order, cinematically some of the deaths, mishaps and worst luck of Christopher Lee's Hammer film Dracula!

MAYBE THEY should have 'always carried two silver coins in their pockets?' 'Kiss a toad?' 'Tipped their hats to a Raven?'...all things that according to superstition, protect you, on this Curse Day of the year. DO YOU have any special rituals or routines, good luck talisman or carry a lucky rabbit foot on this day?? DO tell and share..I could do with some good luck, any day!

#SILENTBUTDEADLY: TRAPPED GONE AND A BLUE CARBUNCLE

#SILENTBUTDEADLY: Requested by Shawn Kelly. HERE IS THAT horrible moment . . this sequence crackles . .  from #HORROROFDRACULA when Jonathan Harker realizes his fate is sealed, that the creature he was going to destroy, now is about to destroy HIM! John Van Eyssen plays Harker here, to the top, even so recently I had read quite few comments at our Facebook Fan Page that Eyssen's acting style does meet everyone's approval. Eyssen himself, didn't rate himself to be much of an actor! I think he did a great job and of his particular style, I would say for me personally, it was his voice that made him stand out, in a very good way, from most actors of the time. With a total of almost fifty film appearances, it's a body of work that shows variety and a capable actor. How do you rate JOHN VAN EYSSEN?

IN PAST WEEKS, JONATHAN HARKER HAS JOINED THE RANKS OF OUR #MONSTERMONDAY CANDIDATES!

#SILENTBUTDEADLY: AND THERE HE WAS..... GONE! Slippery characters vampires, and they don't come more slippery than Baron Meinster. This is a great example of director Terence Fisher's ability to the squeeze the maximum from a shot, and this Fisher Cushing outing, #THEBRIDESOFDRACULA (1960)  is full of examples like this. Note just before the cut, the arrival of the Baron's mother Baroness Meinster, deliciously played by second on the bill, Martita Hunt.We slide from tension to empathy, with the Baroness sharing her shame to Van Helsing, in that she too has succumbed to the wicked plague, propagated by her son, and only Van Helsing, can set her free. Requested by  Colum Macanally

#SILENTBUTDEADLY: HERE'S PETER CUSHING about to tackle another case as Sherlock Holmes, but can you name the character sitting in the chair and his connection, to one 'ARTHUR MULLARD'???

ANSWER:
DANIEL MCGACHEY came up with the answer on our PCAS FACEBOOK FAN PAGE : 'Beck and Mullard starred together in the UK sitcom 'Romany Jones'. (Mullard's character from that series, Wally Briggs, got his own spin-off with his onscreen wife, Lil, played by Queenie Watts, called, 'Yus, My Dear', and then Wally and Lil cropped up in the film 'Holiday On The Buses', which also starred Michael Robbins, who also guest starred in this version of 'The Blue Carbuncle'.

WE SAID: Well done, Daniel McGachey :) I have been trying to work out a way to get Arthur's name on this page for the last few weeks... I remember Romany Jones very well...and Arthur's catchphrase, 'YUS, My Dear...!' bless him. Thanks, Danie

GIMMETHEGIF AND THROWBACKTHURSDAY : MISSING LINK POPSICLE AND NEW RARE STILLS!

#GIMMETHEGIF Requested for M Taylor. Peter Cushing as the Shop Proprietor looks out of the shop window, for the chance of passing trade. Actually, it looks like my kind of shop, if it wasn't for the fear of a fate worse than death, I would have loved a rummage in there! What was the BEST second hand /used item you have ever found??? Antique dealer's, Yard sale, car boot sale or second hand shop? Mine was probably Peter Cushing writing desk. My wife says hers was, me.......!

#GIMMETHEGIF REQUESTED for John Edwards..  MISSING LINK POPSICLE, ANYONE? Professor Alexander Saxton (Christopher Lee) making his discovery , from Horror Express (1972)

#GIMMETHEGIFWEDNESDAY: For Desi Symmonds, David Warner rising to the challenge in the Amicus films portmanteau movie, 'FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE'

#GIMMETHEGIF Requested . .. How things had changed in the Horror cinema world by the time Hammer's DRACULA AD 1972 arrived. One could be mistaken in thinking the these shots had been under-cranked (sped up) to give the film more pace for the fashion of quick shots, edits and dutch tilts was in! Not so... the action shots were filmed at a slow timed pace, so everyone stayed in frame and on their spots..any mistakes would mean filming another take..and that meant more money!!! Hammer were tighter that a vampire's nailed down coffin lid!!

#THROWBACKTHURSDAY . . . .  CAN YOU HEAR HEAVY BREATHING??

#THROWBACKTHURSDAY: It's great when new pics of Peter Cushing surface... even better when the have NEVER been seen before! Here are two very good examples of that... Many, many thanks to Stefan Lange, who has kindly shared these two wonderful and rare photographs with us!

#MONSTERMONDAY: 'I AM ALWAYS OPEN' OFFERS YOU CAN'T REFUSE . . .

#MONSTERMONDAY: WE DO NOT KNOW HIS NAME, but we know his deeds and that is he one deadly tease! The Shop Proprietor of the Amicus film 'FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE' (1974) is perhaps one of the strangest roles that Peter Cushing ever played for Amicus films, not counting Dr Terror, of 'DR TERROR'S HOUSE OF HORRORS' (1965) They both were in the business of dealing in fate and death, one predicting it, the other from the confines of his shop called 'Temptations Limited, doing just that...tempting'. Dr Terror just foretold what was in store, however, this little chap, does try to lead astray, some poor weak, unfortunates who are already walking a very narrow and slippery path. So, what do YOU think? Is he a MONSTER for tempting the weak ? OR is he just a kindly ol man, just trying to eke out a living in a junk shop? YOU DECIDE!
